If you want to get going with your Pilates program right away, please get in touch with us to arrange your first of up to three discounted private sessions.
Even if you have previous experience, we ask that you have at least one private class that will allow us to create a personal program that travels and develops with you, whether in private or group sessions
You are welcome at any time to come and observe a class taking place or to have a look at the Studio. We’re also happy to answer your questions by phone or email.
Please wear comfortable exercise clothes. Pilates is done in bare feet or socks, no shoes required.
We recommend twice a week to get the best results. Once a week is not ineffective, but the progress will be slower.
With the exception of Mat classes, if you’ve done Pilates before we still require one private class. This gives us a chance to create a program specifically for your body before you join a semi-private class..
PHYSIOTHERAPY FAQs
Common Scenarios
Recurring pain: That back pain that won’t stay away, the ache-y knee, or shoulder – or that old injury that flares up.
Recent injury or sudden need: Ow! Perhaps this injury will interfere with your work or your family responsibilities. Although Physiotherapists will never promise a quick fix, just knowing what’s wrong can or may minimize pain and speed healing.
Pre-hab or pre-surgery: Perhaps you have a hip, knee or shoulder surgery on the horizon? Ask a Physiotherapist if there is a good case for pre-surgery therapy. The Physiotherapist may ask to see relevant scans or test results, for which you will need to give explicit consent.
Post-surgery: Physiotherapy may be part of your post-surgery plan. Ongoing therapy may also be recommended, but be reassured that a registered Physiotherapist will never give you unnecessary treatment. The Physiotherapist may ask to see relevant scans or test results, for which you will need to give explicit consent.
Although you don’t have to get a doctor’s referral to see a Physiotherapist, it is important to consider if there is any chance that your problem might be part of a bigger issue or if you are hoping to claim Physiotherapy treatment costs against your Extended Healthcare Plan. It might be a requirement, so check their literature, or better, give them a call and ask:
-Do I need a Doctor’s referral to include with my claim?
-Are there any per-treatment limits, or yearly caps to be aware of?
-When you speak to your doctor’s clinic: Check if the doctor needs to see you in person, or if they can write a referral and leave it for you to pick up.
The Physiotherapist will do a thorough medical history, followed by a detailed examination appropriate to your issues. Following that, the Physiotherapist will discuss the findings with you, provide you with an analysis of your condition, and discuss common goals and objectives. Should you require physiotherapy treatment, some trial techniques may be initiated and will provide a basis for your ongoing treatment.
This will be based entirely on the findings in your initial assessment and the progress you make. It is different for everybody.
Pilates Equipment can isolate muscles in a way that most exercises can not. Therefore, at CoreWorks, we believe that Pilates is the perfect complement to physiotherapy treatment. After your initial assessment and treatment, if appropriate, our Physiotherapist will incorporate Pilates exercises into the treatment by prescribing rehabilitative Pilates exercises that are then taught on the Pilates equipment.
In our Physio Pilates sessions, the Pilates instructor works under the direction of the Physiotherapist, performing specifically prescribed exercises with patients.
Physiotherapy is covered in whole or in part by most extended health care plans. The patient will pay privately at CoreWorks, and receive a receipt from the Registered Physiotherapist to either submit to their insurance carrier, or use as a medical invoice in his/her income tax return. Physiotherapy at CoreWorks is not covered by OHIP.
Physio Pilates is part of your Physiotherapy treatment and is therefore billed as Physiotherapy.
CoreWorks never double-books patients.
This is not the case for Physiotherapists; however, many insurance plans require a doctor’s referral for reimbursement purposes.
It would be helpful to bring any reports from tests or procedures such as MRIs, X-Rays, surgical notes, etc.
